A new manufacturing plant outside Louis Trichardt runs entirely off-grid on a Deye 50 kW hybrid inverter, 82 solar panels and 112 kWh of Dyness batteries, with automatic generator backup.

A new factory about 20 km outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo, built without a municipal power connection.
The challenge
The client opened a new factory 20 km outside of Louis Trichardt in Limpopo. Instead of installing a municipal power feed, they chose an off-grid solar system with automated generator backup, to keep the operation eco-friendly and reduce long-term operating expenses.
What we installed
Deye 50 kW smart hybrid inverter
The heart of the system, managing the solar panels, batteries and generator.
82 × 620 W solar panels
Tier 1 monocrystalline panels, 50.84 kWp in total, mounted on the factory roof.
8 × 14 kWh Dyness Stack280 batteries
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, 112 kWh of storage in total.
Smart generator integration
The client’s existing generator is connected through Deye Smart Switches. When the batteries reach a set state of charge, the system makes the generator look like the grid, so it starts and supports the factory automatically.
Results
No municipal connection needed
The factory runs entirely off-grid, with no municipal power feed installed.
Automatic backup
The generator steps in on its own when battery charge is low, so the plant keeps running without anyone switching anything over.
Lower long-term running costs
Solar does the heavy lifting, so the generator is only a backup rather than the main source of power.
